A Memorable Evening at Lodge Fraser No. 267 – A Fine Fellowcraft Degree & The Travelling Trowel Moves On

Last night, I had the pleasure of sojourning to Lodge Fraser No. 267 in Strichen, where I witnessed an excellent Fellowcraft Degree conferred upon Bro. James Watt. The degree was expertly conducted by Past Master Bro. Mike Morgan, who, despite it being 27 years since he last took the chair, stepped in to deputise for the Right Worshipful Master, who was unfortunately unable to attend.

Bro. Morgan delivered the ceremony with remarkable confidence and precision, demonstrating that true Masonic skill and leadership never fade with time. His efforts, combined with the dedication of the Brethren of Lodge Fraser, made for an outstanding degree, where every element of the ritual was carried out with precision and sincerity. Bro. Watt himself was an exceptionally attentive candidate, answering his Test Questions in an exemplary manner, showing his commitment and understanding of the teachings of the Craft. Well done to all involved!

The Travelling Trowel Finds a New Home!

As mentioned in a previous post, the Travelling Trowel had been resting at Lodge Fraser for some time, and I had expressed my intention to move it to a new location to reignite interest in capturing it. However, the Brethren of Lodge Clinton No. 1244 rose to the challenge, and a Deputation led by PM Bro. Crockett successfully captured the Trowel! 👏 Well done to him and his Brethren for embracing the spirit of this friendly competition and keeping the tradition alive.

With that, the Travelling Trowel is now up for grabs once again! It will be available for capture at the next meeting of Lodge Clinton No. 1244, which will coincide with the Annual Visitation of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Aberdeenshire tomorrow, 1st March. This presents a great opportunity for another Lodge to step up and claim it, continuing the tradition of fostering inter-lodge fellowship and good-natured competition.

Final Thoughts

It was a truly enjoyable evening of excellent ritual, fraternal camaraderie, and good Masonic spirit. My sincere thanks to Lodge Fraser No. 267 for their hospitality and efforts in delivering a superb Fellowcraft Degree, and congratulations once again to Bro. Watt on taking this next step in his Masonic journey.

I now look forward to seeing which Lodge will next rise to the challenge and claim the Travelling Trowel—let the chase begin once again!

Fraternal best wishes,

RWPGM
