The Lodge year has a Heartbeat…
Summer is,the long exhale. The recess. The months where Freemasonry recedes into the background and ordinary life expands to fill the space.
September is the inhale. The return.
The first meeting back where everyone is slightly more present than usual because absence does that to a room.
And now it’s OCTOBER.
October is the first full beat. The rhythm either catches here or it doesn’t. Not dramatically. Not with any single meeting you could point to afterward.
Just quietly, in the accumulation of whether Brothers are showing up ready or showing up out of habit.
Whether the work in the Lodge room has weight or whether it is being delivered on autopilot while everyone waits for something more interesting to be scheduled.
The Masonic year finds it’s character in October…
Not in the degree night’s or the Installations or the occasions that get circled on the calendar. In this month. In the meetings that don’t have a name. What kind of year is it going to be?
October is already answering that, whether anyone asked or not.
