Brethren from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Aberdeenshire East convened yesterday afternoon at the Masonic Temple on Henry Lane, Maud, to prepare for their Annual Divine Service.
In keeping with tradition, the assembled Brethren, joined by representatives from several other Masonic Orders, stepped off in procession toward Maud Church. Leading the parade was piper Bro. Shaun McLean, whose music set a stirring tone for the march. The procession was especially notable this year, featuring both the Provincial Grand Lodge of Aberdeenshire East Banner and the newly commissioned Pipe Banner, which was carried on its maiden parade.
Upon arrival, the congregation was warmly welcomed by the minister, the Rev. Aileen McFie, who conducted the service with the assistance of Mrs. Margaret. Taking the Parable of the Talents as the central theme, the service provided meaningful reflection on stewardship, duty, and service to the community.
Following the benediction, Bro. McLean once again took his place at the head of the column to pipe the Brethren back to the Temple. There, attendees gathered for warm fellowship, enjoying tea, coffee, and an excellent spread of local “fine pieces.”
During the fellowship, a presentation of the afternoon’s offering was made to the Rev. McFie. The donation was gifted to the church to distribute among local charitable causes as they see fit, for which the minister expressed her sincere appreciation and gratitude.
The event proved to be a resounding success, marked by strong fraternal camaraderie and a shared spirit of service, and a memorable afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance.
